Ashe

Hi! I’m Ashe. (Ah-Sheh, or Ash if that’s easier. <3)

I’m a practicing multidisciplinary fine arts Installation Artist, (focuses in painting, sculpture, photo, video, sound, writing, and light projections) turned video game Concept Artist, (focuses in characters, environments, and weapons).

I have a love for teaching and supporting young creatives in Chicago, and I aspire to give back to my city and help raise up other young artists one day.

When I’m not enveloped in artwork, I’m an active skateboarder in Chicago’s skate scene and own SweatySox Skate Co., a handmade griptape brand/service. I am big on giving back in the ways that I can, thus SweatySox has an ever-growing list of sponsorships, giveaways, and collaborations with local skaters and small skate-based businesses. It has been nothing short of amazing to be making work that expresses the magic of art and the art of connection in such a strongly familial community. To bring other’s dreams and ideas to life whether it is through sponsorship opportunities or commissioning, community experience and unleashing other’s inspiration, drive, and creativity is the most rewarding thing, and is what drives me to continue making and putting myself out there (especially in fields I never expected myself to be in) in order to continue doing this work for others. There’s something magical that happens when someone feels visible, heard, valued, and everyone deserves to feel that feeling. That is what motivates me to keep making.

My creative explorations and drive for connecting communities through art have now led me to exploring another love of mine more deeply, the video game world; a medium that directly addresses the endless capabilities and abilities of art to and for humanity. I hope to find my place in this magical world very soon and support my newfound peers in creating and sharing these digital ageless stories and experiences for the masses to enjoy, bond through, and learn from through my explorations and journey through this field as a professional Concept Artist.

I had always been interested in animated films and how they were made, and this drove me to choose my college major in animation. At the time, I had zero experience or knowledge of digital art and the necessary programs needed to succeed in that field. I worked as hard as I could and from then on, I had discovered the many different career paths I could follow that weren’t just narrowed down to character animation in film and television. It had grown to a point where I had a hard time choosing between what I wanted to do because I enjoyed learning so many different skills and wearing different hats. I had especially fallen in love with concept art, motion design, and even 3D modeling. By the time I realized I didn’t have to limit myself to one specialty, I had earned a BFA in Animation and Illustration in 2022 and during my job hunt, I stumbled upon Crazy Carrot Studios. Since then, I couldn’t be more happy to give it a shot! When I’m not glued to my computer or tablet with a caramel latte in my hand, I can be found reading or running a few miles to make up for the long hours of sitting at my desk.
